BLACK SEA MOLECULAR ECOLOGICAL CENTER
MOLEC
PROJECTS AND RESERCH IN BLACK SEA
MOLEC - OUR MISSION
MOLEC is an abbreviation of Molecular Ecological Center uniting scientific institutions and participants in key scientific projects for the ecology of the Black Sea
Environmental pollution is a major problem of modern society. Expanding knowledge about the mechanisms of biological response of organisms to pressure from environmental factors will enable the selection of sensitive indicators that will serve as an early warning of disturbance of the ecological balance and will enable a timely response and influenceon the course of the impact.
What we called the Black Sea Molecular Ecological Center (MOLEC) arose as a result of the integration of motivated scientists from BAS and universities to participate in several significant and innovative projects. Around this beginning, a wider scientific research network was gradually formed based on interests on a completely voluntary basis for studying the ecology of the Black Sea. Participants and like-minded people became scientists working in the most modern areas of research on the state and impacts on the Black Sea ecological system - from the level of molecules to ecosystems. The problems of sustainable development of the Black Sea coast, large investment projects, illegal construction, pollution, reduction of fish resources, etc., are constantly in the center of public attention. It is indisputable that science and citizens must participate much more actively to achieve better knowledge, modern education and active actions to preserve our Black Sea. Many local fishermen, businesses, farm owners and other organizations give us selfless assistance, for which we thank them most sincerely.
Goals:
Our goal is to unite the efforts and knowledge of scientists, experts, doctoral students, students and committed citizens from the Black Sea coast for the sustainable development of a blue economy. The main approach is the implementation of various scientific and scientific applied projects related to the study, protection and restoration of the Black Sea and its ecosystems.
Approach:
Such interdisciplinary approaches are necessary to cover scientific directions and various activities related to the sustainability and health of the Black Sea ecosystems and their conservation. One of the modern interdisciplinary directions that the Center develops is Stress Ecology, as a universal indication of the state of marine biota and adverse impacts on the marine environment, and as an early warning indicator of increasing ecological pressure.
For the love of he sea

We have professional equipment and knowledge regarding the realization of a number of studies that are based on the activity of the center.
What is our goal?
We are scientists who are engaged in the implementation of a variety of projects and studies with a research purpose related to the environmental pollution of the Black Sea.

Investigation
In recent years, we have carried out numerous studies that are the basis of articles published in national and international publications and are recognized worldwide.
Field work
All samples that form the basis of our studies and research are taken by our team and colleagues with whom we partner. In the gallery you can see photos from our travels and the work process.
